Who We Are
Our Story
Our foundation was born from a lifetime of witnessing
Growing up, it was impossible to ignore the quiet ways that systems failed women and girls, not because they lacked potential, but because of where they were born, the communities they came from, and the doors that were never opened for them. Barriers to menstrual health, to clean water, to economic independence, to quality education and these were not isolated problems. They were a pattern. And that pattern had a cost: generations of women and girls whose gifts the world never got to see.
For our founder, Amanda O. Ahanonu, the response was never a question of if but when. Rooted in a deep desire to give back, to create real and lasting value, and to build something that would outlive the moment, Amanda Ahanonu founded The Pink Sun Empowerment Foundation in 2025 as an answer to that call.
TPSF was built on a simple but radical belief: that every woman and girl, regardless of her background or circumstances, deserves the foundation to rise. Through programmes spanning menstrual health, WASH, economic empowerment, and STEM education, we are doing the work community by community, woman by woman, girl by girl to make that belief a reality.
And today, TPSF is more than an organization, it’s a legacy, movement of compassion, empowerment, and lasting change for girls and women across Nigeria.
Our Vision & Mission
Vision Statement
A world where every woman and girl, regardless of where she was born, the community she comes from, or the challenges she has faced, has unconditional access to the health support, clean water, economic opportunity, and quality education she deserves. We envision thriving communities shaped by empowered women; a global landscape where gender is never a barrier to leadership, livelihood, or life itself; and a future where The Pink Sun Empowerment Foundation's work has touched every corner of the world, leaving behind generations of women who rise, lead, and transform the spaces they inhabit.
Mission Statement
The Pink Sun Empowerment Foundation exists to dismantle the systemic barriers that limit the potential of women and girls. Through targeted, community-driven programmes in menstrual health, water-sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), economic empowerment, and STEM education, we meet women and girls where they are by providing the resources, knowledge, and platforms they need to build lives of dignity, independence, and purpose. From our roots in Nigeria, we are growing a global movement that believes no woman's future should be determined by her circumstances.
