About Us

Empowering Girls. Supporting Women. Transforming Communities.

The Pink Sun Foundation (TPSF) is dedicated to breaking the barriers that hold girls and women back in Nigeria. Through education, healthcare support, and community-driven programs, we work to ensure every girl has the dignity, confidence, and resources to thrive.

Our Story

The Pink Sun Empowerment Foundation began with a simple but powerful belief:
Every girl, no matter where she is born, deserves the chance to live with dignity, confidence, and opportunity.

The Pink Sun Empowerment Foundation was created from a deep belief that every girl deserves to live with dignity, confidence, and opportunity.

Our founder, Amanda Ahanonu, understood the barriers girls and women face, from period poverty to limited access to education and healthcare. This mission became personal when her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, opening Amanda’s eyes to the emotional, physical, and financial challenges breast cancer patients face, especially those without resources or support.

Determined to change these realities, she founded The Pink Sun Empowerment Foundation to break down barriers, challenge stigma, and build programs that equip girls and women with the tools to thrive.

What began as a vision has grown into a registered nonprofit organization dedicated to delivering impactful initiatives in menstrual health, breast cancer awareness and support, scholarships, and community skills workshops which are all designed to empower girls and women to rise above limitations and shape their own futures.

Today, TPSF is more than an organization, it’s a movement of compassion, empowerment, and lasting change for girls and women across Nigeria.

Our Mission

Our mission is to empower underprivileged girls by giving them the education, mentorship, and opportunities they need to thrive, while also providing vital awareness, resources, and emotional support for breast cancer patients. We work to break down the barriers that limit potential, challenge the stigma surrounding women’s health, and create safe spaces where learning, healing, and growth can flourish. By focusing on sustainable, community-driven solutions, we aim to build resilience that lasts for generations, ensuring that every girl and woman we reach can step confidently into her future.

Our Vision

We envision is a world where every girl has access to quality education, compassionate mentorship, and the confidence to dream without limits, and where every breast cancer patient receives timely care, encouragement, and the support of a community that stands by her side. We see a future where stigma is replaced by understanding, where opportunities are within reach for all, and where healthy, empowered communities pave the way for brighter, self-sustaining futures. Through education, advocacy, and compassion, we are working toward a Nigeria and a world where no woman or girl is left behind.

Our Core Values

At The Pink Sun Foundation, our work is guided by values that shape every decision, program, and relationship we build.

Dignity

Dignity is a birthright, not a privilege. Every girl and woman deserves to live with self-respect, pride, and access to opportunities that affirm her worth. We design our programs to honor the humanity of every person we serve, ensuring they are seen, heard, and valued.

Empowerment

We equip girls and women with the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to shape their own futures. Empowerment means creating space for them to lead, make decisions, and drive change in their own lives and communities.

Community

We believe sustainable change is built with, not for, communities. We listen to local voices, build trust, and collaborate with partners and leaders to ensure our programs are culturally relevant and truly impactful.

Integrity

Transparency and accountability are at the heart of all we do. We honor the trust placed in us by our beneficiaries, supporters, and partners, and we remain committed to using our resources responsibly to create lasting impact.

What We Do

At The Pink Sun Foundation, every program is designed to respond to the real, urgent needs of girls and women in underserved communities across Nigeria. From menstrual health to mentorship, skills training to breast cancer support, our work is rooted in dignity, empowerment, and sustainable impact.

The Bloom & Flow Initiative – Menstrual Health & Dignity Program

In many parts of Nigeria, menstruation remains a silent barrier that keeps adolescent girls out of school and undermines their confidence. Our Bloom & Flow pilot program tackles this by combining hygiene kit distribution, menstrual health workshops, pain management education, and mentorship from trained Health Ambassadors and professional medical officers.
More than just providing pads, Bloom & Flow is about creating safe spaces where girls can learn, ask questions, and rise together with confidence.

Sunrise Mentorship Program

Every girl deserves to see what’s possible. Through the Sunrise Mentorship program, we pair adolescent girls with accomplished women professionals across industries, giving them guidance, encouragement, and access to real-world experiences. From monthly one-on-one sessions to workplace visits and academic planning, this program offers not just career direction, but belonging, vision, and hope.

SkillHER – Learn. Earn. Create. Thrive.

Economic independence changes everything. SkillHER offers hands-on workshops that teach girls and young women income-generating skills. From soap and candle making to jewelry design, makeup artistry, and catering. Participants leave with both the know-how and starter materials to begin earning immediately, building confidence and opportunity in their own hands.

TPSF Scholarship Award Program

Too many gifted girls are held back by financial barriers. Our Scholarship Program covers tuition, exam fees, uniforms, textbooks, and school supplies, ensuring recipients have everything they need to focus on their education and future. By removing these obstacles, we’re helping girls stay in school, break cycles of poverty, and lead with confidence.

Hope in Bloom – Breast Cancer Care Collective

Breast cancer affects more than health, it touches every part of a woman’s life. Hope in Bloom provides holistic support from diagnosis to recovery, offering wig and beauty kit donations, health workshops, awareness campaigns, educational materials, and connections to support networks. Inspired by our founder’s personal journey, this program restores dignity, beauty, and hope during one of life’s toughest battles.

Meet The Founder

The Heart Behind TPSF

The Pink Sun Empowerment Foundation was born from both passion and deeply personal experience.
Our founder, Amanda Ahanonu, is a committed advocate for women’s empowerment, education, and health equity. Her vision for TPSF is shaped by seeing how opportunity or the lack of it can alter the course of a woman’s life. But it was her mother’s courageous battle with breast cancer that turned this awareness into a calling. Watching someone she loves face such a life-altering diagnosis with strength and grace ignited in Amanda a determination to ensure that no woman walks that journey alone, and no girl has to give up her dignity or education because of circumstances beyond her control.

Amanda believes that change starts with compassion, but must be built on action. She leads TPSF with integrity, empathy, and unwavering dedication. Listening to the needs of the communities we serve and creating programs that address those needs in real, sustainable ways. For her, every pad distributed, every mentorship connection made, and every woman supported through illness is more than just an act of service, it’s a statement that they matter, their dreams matter, and their lives matter.

Her greatest hope is to see girls and women across Nigeria rise with dignity, confidence, and opportunity, knowing they are never alone in their journey and that The Pink Sun Empowerment Foundation will always be a place where they are seen, heard, and championed.

Every Girl Deserves a Chance to Rise.
When you give, whether your time, your voice, or your resources, you’re not just supporting a cause, you’re transforming lives. You’re helping a girl stay in school because she has the menstrual products she needs. You’re easing the burden of a woman fighting breast cancer by letting her know she’s not alone. You’re bringing education, dignity, and hope into communities that have gone unseen for far too long.

At The Pink Sun Empowerment Foundation, we believe change begins with one person and that person could be you.
